So here it is, by popular demand, the official website for the internationally acclaimed band,

Creedence Clearwater Recycled.

The band, that continually stuns and excites audiences wherever they play, who are totally dedicated to upholding the pureness and spirit of this timeless music. How they, even with their legion of fans, manage to remain somewhat of a mystery is a story within itself. Read more…

Rumors about who the individual members of Creedence Clearwater Recycled are, and where they originate from, have been rife over the years. For instance, “ They’re the real CCR”, or “ Some of them are the original members of CCR”, to “They’re relatives of the original band”. Then, “ They’re from Louisiana”, or “ They must be Mississippi boys”.
The debate has been vigorous to the point where mass amounts of money have been waged. Creedence Clearwater Recycled didn’t intentionally set out for this to happen. They simply never considered
their own identities to be relevant.

The reasons for this confusion lie within a brief history of Creedence Clearwater Revival.

The great Creedence Clearwater Revival respectfully paid homage to those Country, Rock and Blues musicians that had influenced the world yet had remained relatively unknown. They tastefully breathed new life into their renditions of Susie Q, I Put a Spell On You etc, sewing the seed for listeners to search out the original artists for whom had not been duly credited. The four members came from El Cerrito California but were constantly mistaken for Louisiana or Mississippi and the like because of the images their songs and sound reflected. John Fogarty’s own masterful song writing both paralleled and surpassed many before him. His own vocal style echoed in the culmination of those singers he admired, resulting in a voice that proudly stands alone. His signature, both powerful yet gentle minimalist style guitar, endears him into the hearts of many aspiring and accomplished guitarists forever. Tom Fogarty was one of the last of his kind, continuing the tradition of a long line of rhythm guitarists that stood unassumingly in the background, yet his relentless driving rhythm guitar was the foundation that held the band together.

Stu Cook’s beautiful bass lines effortlessly wove around guitar vocals, and drums, never stepping on any toes yet solidly bringing all together. Doug Clifford’s drumming style could be compassionate, intense and ferocious, always complimenting the other instruments and the song. Together, they forged one of the greatest rock and roll bands the world would ever see.

They were never caught up in the glamour, the gimmicks, and the hype that was so much of the music scene around them. The media paid little attention to them, because their interviews predominately centered on music and playing. Despite being the number one act in the world most tabloid reporters couldn’t tell one member from the other. The feeling of not receiving individual recognition, sadly led to their demise.

What they didn’t realize was summed up by Bruce Springstein some years later when inducting them into the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, “ Creedence Clearwater Revival wasn’t the hippest band in the world, they were simply the best”. No one disputed this, for at the time, anyone who started to sing or picked up an instrument, wanted to be in a band. Everyone who was in a band, wanted to be in CCR.

Creedence Clearwater Recycled consists of four extremely talented musicians, who, having cut their teeth in various bands (Country, Blues & Rock), have come together with one major objective in mind. To bring the fantastic music of Creedence Clearwater Revival back to life on stage in front of a live audience where it really belongs played with all the skill, the passion, the power and the dedication it both demands and truly deserves.

So, when you experience Creedence Clearwater Recycled live, you are transported back in time (as if at an authentic CCR concert) when legendary songwriting and musicianship were paramount. You can hear and feel the dedication and obvious love they have for this music. Their skilful, high-energy, powered performances respectfully praise the work of John Fogarty, Tom Fogarty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford. You’ll find yourself singing along to song after song you thought you’d forgotten, and come away with an even greater appreciation for the music and its creators.

Then I think you will agree, that the only relevant answer to “who and what this band truly are” has been staring you right in the face…

Creedence Clearwater Recycled.
